    Description

    This is an original indenture of apprenticeship dated August 16, 1839 for John Henry Bickford 15 year old son of Betsy Bickford of Schaghticoke, New York (Rensselaer County) to John Balch.  Administered by Justice of the Peace, Parismus Shreve, John Henry will learn the business of farming and will receive medicine, etc, along with "holiday" clothes until age 21.  Witnessed by C D Sheldon (?)  Condition is very good with markings from sealing wax.
